Hong Kong. We made it!
This is our day two here. We arrived yesterday around 6:00AM local time. By that time we had traveled for 17 hours. Like I said before, we changed planes at Rome, Italy. After two hours of waiting, we got on the CX292 flight to Hong Kong. None of us had flown with Cathay Pacific before, but after sitting on their seat for 11 hours, we can highly recommend to use this airline. Their seats were comfortable and that says a lot because we were flying in economy class. We were wondering how on Earth we can get 11 hours to go by, but in the end, with God's help, time went by surprisingly fast. Food was good, too, which was a surprise. Usually airplane food is something you can't even call food. But both lunch and breakfast were pretty good. We even got ice cream for dessert!

Breakfast time! |
Those screens were pretty amazing. There were tens and tens of movies and tv shows to choose from. And they were good, recent movies. I might have watched five movies. Heh.
Here's some photos from the bus drive to Kowloon.
Fortunately we didn't have to search for our hotel for too long. Our hotel is located at Chunking Mansion. I have to say, it is quite... How do I say this? Exotic. Different. Tight. Crowded. This really is something to experience. Everything here is so different compared to Finland. Of course we knew there was going to be a culture shock, but talking about something is so different than really living it through. And I'm not saying it's bad, but we are used to space. There's so much space in Finland! We've never really realized it, but when you walk here, in between skyscrapers, in these huge crowds, you really see how 'empty' our country is. Everything here is packed together so tightly.
Jet lag wasn't something nice to experience. I mean, we didn't sleep for 36 hours. Miia took small naps here and there, but me and Pia couldn't. We tried to sleep in the plane, but we simply couldn't. Sleep wouldn't come. But now, after almost two days, we are slowly starting to get accustomed to right sleeping times.
Today we went to the iSquare which is a mall right across from our building. Here's some photos from there.
After eating something back in the hotel, we decided to go and see Hong Kong skyline. It was so weird to see that with your own eyes. There was a lot of people, but then it started to rain and suddenly we were literally the only ones standing there. It was so funny. We put on our plastic rain jackets and local people laughed at us. I don't know why. We just laughed with them, because honestly we looked so damn amazing (not).

It was nice to see open space, not just the high buildings. I can't wait to visit Victoria Peak. If we were impressed by this view, I can only imagine what it's going be like on top of Hong Kong.
And because food is our friend, here's something for you to enjoy.
